At the 2012 Sema Show, Ford revealed its 2014 Ford Mustang Cobra Jet with Borg-Warner turbo chargers, in addition to the already potent 5.0-liter V8 found under the hood of the Mustang. There were also hints of an upcoming Mustang with EcoBoost power. For now, though, that’s a rumor for the 2015 Mustang model at the earliest.
To overcome one of the biggest problems with turbocharging–namely, the lag time–Ford has selected the smallest possible turbos to allow for increased airflow, said Turbo engineer Dave Born.
For now, the Ford Mustang Cobra Jet remains a concept car only, but there’s no telling for the 2015 or later year models.
